Purpose and local storage
Tabmori is an offline, customizable New Tab extension for searching, organizing frequently used sites, and keeping notes. It requires no account and provides no cloud sync, backend service, API key integration, or built-in AI model. The developer does not receive private content from the extension or collect analytics, telemetry, or advertising tracking data through it.
Notes, tasks, links, attachments, local images, video, audio, themes, layouts, shortcuts, and settings that you enter or import are stored in the current Chrome profile's local extension data using IndexedDB. Your interface language choice is kept in the extension's local storage. Tabmori does not sync this data through Chrome Storage Sync. Shareable theme appearance data is separate from private widget data such as notes and shortcuts. Applying or importing a theme does not delete that private data.
Optional access to browser data
Tabmori always holds two permissions: search, used to hand a web search you submit to Chrome's default search engine, and unlimited storage, used to keep notes and media locally. It has no host permissions, background script, or content scripts. When it opens Chrome's colour settings or extensions page for you, it opens a new tab without reading your tabs.
Tabmori uses the following browser permissions only when you enable the related feature and grant access. You can decline or revoke optional access; other features that do not need it remain available.
- Bookmarks: Read local bookmark names, URLs, and folder structure to display and search bookmarks in New Tab.
- History: Read visited page titles, URLs, and visit times to display and search local history.
- Downloads: Read local download record filenames, status, times, and whether a file exists to find records and show files in their folders. Tabmori does not read file contents or scan your disk. When you explicitly export an advanced Chrome color theme, this permission also saves a locally generated, color-only theme
manifest.jsonto your Downloads folder. You load the resulting theme yourself in Chrome; Tabmori does not apply or install it. Because theme-file saving uses this permission, turning off the Downloads source keeps it; turn off Save Chrome theme files in settings to remove it. - Site icons: Display icons from Chrome's local
_faviconcache without requesting a third-party icon service.
Bookmark, history, and download query results are processed in the local New Tab page and are not sent to the developer or another server. Tabmori does not collect browsing activity in the background for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
Data categories and use
Tabmori's store disclosures include web history and website content. These describe local handling of authorized history and URLs, and text, images, audio, video, and links that you enter, save, or import. They do not mean the content is uploaded to the developer.
Tabmori does not require identity, health, financial, payment, authentication, communication, or location information. It does not record clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, or keystrokes for analytics. You control any such information you choose to put in a note; the note is stored locally for the note feature.
Visits to other websites
Typing a search term does not request online search suggestions. After you explicitly submit a web search, Chrome navigates to your default search engine or the site search you chose. Clicking a shortcut or link navigates to its website. Search terms and destination URLs handled by those services are subject to their own privacy policies.
Tabmori's interface code, fonts, and bundled wallpapers ship with the extension; it does not load them remotely. Its optional AI prompt exchange consists of text that you choose to copy to an external service and a response you paste back. The copied text includes the current theme, such as its name, appearance, layout, and widget types and titles, but not notes, tasks, or links. Tabmori does not connect to that service, receive an API key, or send private content on your behalf.
Export, retention, and deletion
Theme exports share appearance only; they do not automatically include notes or shortcuts. A full private backup is exported only when you request it. Theme, note, and backup exports are saved through an ordinary browser download, not through the downloads permission. The local backup file may contain private content and media and is not encrypted. Keep it secure and share it only if you choose to.
You can edit or delete notes, shortcuts, and imported media in Tabmori, and disable or revoke optional source permissions in settings. Reset in settings deletes every theme, wallpaper, and piece of private content on this computer. You can also uninstall the extension or clear its local data in Chrome. The developer has no server copy and cannot restore deleted local content. Backup and theme files already exported to your disk remain separate and must be deleted by you.
Sharing and limited use
Tabmori does not upload this content to the developer, sell user data, or use it for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to its New Tab function. Information accessed through Chrome APIs is used only for the user-visible features described here. Use of information obtained through Chrome APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
