First run
After Tabmori is installed, every new tab opens Tabmori instead of Chrome's New Tab page.
- Open a new tab. The first page uses the Misty Pines theme, with a clock, a search box, quick links, and a note stacked in the middle.
- Press E, or click Customize in the page toolbar, to open the Customize panel.
- Change the theme or wallpaper on the Appearance tab, add or arrange widgets on the Widgets tab, and pick the interface language under Settings › Language (简体中文, English, or Follow the browser, the default).
The extension's Options entry in Chrome opens the same New Tab page with the Customize panel on Settings.
Permissions
Tabmori asks Chrome for two permissions at install:
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Search | Sending a web search to Chrome's default search engine. |
| Unlimited storage | Keeping notes, wallpapers, and media in local storage without the default size limit. |
Four more permissions are optional. Chrome asks for each one only when you turn on the feature that needs it, and Tabmori explains the prompt first:
| Optional permission | Asked when | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Bookmarks | You turn on bookmarks | Reading bookmarks for the sidebar and local search. |
| History | You turn on history | Reading browsing history for the sidebar and local search. |
| Downloads | You turn on downloads, or generate an exact-colour Chrome theme | Reading download records, and saving the generated theme file into your Downloads folder. |
| Site icons (favicon) | You add your first quick link, or turn on Site icons in Settings | Showing site icons from Chrome's local icon cache. |
Tabmori asks for no host permissions, has no background service worker, and has no content scripts. See Sidebars for how the browser-data permissions are requested and removed.
